Root to Rise — A Classical Yoga Workshop

2 Hours | All Levels | No Experience Necessary | Small Group

Most yoga classes give you an experience. This one gives you an experience — and the understanding to recreate it.

Root to Rise is a two-hour workshop built on the three pillars of classical yoga: breath, movement, and deep rest. Guided by Jonathan with the warmth, precision, and unhurried attention that defines everything he teaches, this session takes you through each pillar in sequence — each one opening the door more fully for the next, creating a cumulative depth of restoration that a single-practice class simply cannot match.

It is completely accessible to beginners. It is quietly rewarding for experienced practitioners. And it will leave you clearer — in your body, your breath, and your mind — than when you walked in.

What the session contains:

Pranayama — Four Breathing Practices
We begin with the breath, because the breath is where everything begins.

These are among the oldest and most rigorously evidenced techniques in the yoga tradition — four practices moved through in sequence, each building on the last. The first settles the nervous system. The second restores the full natural range of the breath — the range that stress, shallow breathing, and modern life quietly contract over time. The third and fourth bring the mind into a quality of stillness that is different from relaxation: it is alert, present, and genuinely clear.

By the time the pranayama sequence is complete, something has already shifted. The body is open. The mind has stepped back from its commentary. And the movement that follows lands in an entirely different way than it would have without it.

Hatha Yoga — Breath-Led Postures
The hatha sequence moves from the floor through kneeling and into standing — deliberate postures held with awareness and ease, every transition cued from the breath rather than the other way around.

Jonathan's teaching here is defined by what it doesn't do as much as what it does. There is no rushing. No adjusting without permission. No expectation to keep up or perform. The postures are accessible to complete beginners and offer genuine depth to experienced practitioners — held long enough for the body to actually arrive in them, rather than passing through on the way to the next shape.

This is hatha yoga as it was designed to be practised: not as exercise, but as a moving meditation that prepares the body and nervous system for the rest that follows.

Himalayan Singing Bowl Immersion
The session closes with savasana — and this is where the final, extraordinary layer arrives.

You lie completely still, fully supported, covered with a blanket, eyes closed. And Jonathan plays the Himalayan singing bowls live in the room.

This is not a recording. It is not ambient sound. It is live vibration — ancient, resonant, and played with the specific intention of moving through the body rather than simply around it. The frequencies travel into the tissue, the bones, the nervous system — completing the work that the pranayama and hatha have begun, and carrying you into a depth of rest that most people describe as unlike anything they have experienced before.

What you'll leave with:

  • A nervous system that has been genuinely, completely reset

  • A breath that feels fuller, freer, and more naturally available than it did before

  • A body that has been moved with care and held with attention

  • The deepest rest many participants have experienced in years

  • A genuine understanding of the classical yoga sequence — pranayama, movement, rest — and the tools to begin bringing it into your daily life

This workshop is for you if:

  • You want a thorough, welcoming and beautifully held introduction to yoga and breathwork

  • You carry stress, tension, or anxiety and want a practice that addresses all of it — body, breath, and mind — in a single session

  • You are curious about pranayama or singing bowls and want to experience them safely, deeply, and well

  • You already practise yoga and want to understand the breath more deeply and feel what classical sequencing actually creates

  • You want to leave not just having had a beautiful experience — but knowing how to recreate it
