2 Hours | All Levels | No Experience Necessary
There is a particular kind of tired that arrives in autumn.
Not the dramatic exhaustion of a crisis, or the sharp fatigue of a bad week. Something quieter than that. An accumulating heaviness — the sense that the year has been asking a great deal and that the body has been saying yes long past the point where it needed to rest.
Autumn, in both Eastern medicine and the wisdom of nature, is the season that asks us to begin putting things down. To compost what has been spent. To turn inward with the same willingness that the trees turn their energy toward their roots.
This workshop is two hours of doing exactly that — in a beautiful, serene setting, with practices drawn from some of the world's oldest healing traditions, sequenced with care so that each one opens the door more fully for the next.
The Practice:
Opening Circle (5 minutes)
We begin by gathering — arriving in the space and in the body before the practice starts. A moment of shared presence that sets the tone for everything that follows: unhurried, inclusive, and held.
Qigong Fusion with Yoga (40 minutes)
We open with movement — but not the kind that demands anything of you.
Qigong, which translates simply as energy practice, is one of the oldest and most deeply health-giving movement systems in the world — prescribed in China as preventative medicine and practised by millions for its profound effects on physical vitality, mental calm, and energetic balance. For this workshop, we focus on the Autumn element: Earth. Working with the stomach and spleen meridians of medical Qigong, the movements are slow, fluid, and grounding — blended with yoga to create a practice that feels both familiar and gently new.
This is entirely suitable for complete beginners. Options are offered throughout. The aim is not to get it right — it is to arrive in the body, move with the season, and begin the process of genuine settling.
Yin Yoga (45 minutes)
From the gentle activation of the Qigong, we move to the floor — and slow right down.
Yin Yoga works through long, passive holds — postures maintained for several minutes at a time, with full prop support, targeting the connective tissue and fascia where tension tends to accumulate and stay. If you feel stiff, struggle to sleep, carry a low-level physical tension that regular exercise doesn't seem to touch — this is the practice that reaches it.
The mind, given this quality of unhurried stillness, finds its own kind of calm. Not forced. Not performed. Just the natural settling that happens when the body is genuinely met rather than pushed through.
Deep Rest with Sound Healing (20 minutes)
Also known as Yoga Nidra — and the part of the afternoon that most people describe as the most rested they have felt in months.
You lie down. You get comfortable. You cover yourself with a blanket and simply listen as you are guided into a state between waking and sleep — the threshold where the nervous system down-regulates most completely and the body does its deepest work of restoration. Sound healing plays gently throughout, deepening the stillness and carrying the body into a quality of rest that effort alone cannot produce.
Most people are surprised by how far they go. All of them are glad they did.
Closing Circle with Ceremonial Cacao (10 minutes)
We close as we began — together, and gently.
A cup of warm ceremonial cacao is shared to mark the end of the practice and the transition back into the evening. There is something quietly powerful about closing a practice with something warm and intentional rather than simply dispersing. The cacao holds the space for a moment of gratitude, of arrival, of carrying what the afternoon has offered back out into the world.
What you'll leave with:
A body that feels genuinely rested rather than simply relaxed
Key Qigong movements for the Autumn season to return to at home
Tension released through long, held Yin stretches — including tension you didn't know you were carrying
A nervous system genuinely restored through guided deep rest and sound healing
A sense of having honoured the season — and yourself — with real intention
This workshop is for you if:
You have been running on empty and your body is asking for more than a good night's sleep
You are curious about Qigong and want a genuinely accessible, welcoming way in
You carry tension that regular exercise doesn't seem to touch
You want to mark the change of season consciously rather than simply being carried along by it
You are new to this kind of practice — no experience of any kind is needed
All levels welcome. Options offered throughout. Everything provided — just bring yourself and a willingness to slow down.
